FELDENRKAIS AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT®

WORKSHOP WITH FRAUKE VOSS GCFP

STANDING AND WALKING

Walking is one of the most enjoyable and healthy ways of exercising. Yet, in our culture of chairs and wheels (in other words, four legs and round legs) we seem to forget that we evolved to standing and walking on two legs.

This workshop will be a “refresher course” of the function of walking.  With the help of evolutionary movement patterns and innovative Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons we will review and improve some basic conditions necessary for dynamic standing and walking:

- balance

- shifting of weight from one leg to the other

- shifting of weight in turning

- transmission of force through the skeleton

- propulsion

- ankles, knees and hips in walking

- hip and shoulder relationship

- freedom of the neck, etc.

You will walk away from this workshop with much more awareness of how you walk, and with a set of “tools” that can help you improve your walk anywhere, any time.
